There’s quite a few interesting recipes and ideas at wikiHow in the article How to Feed a Vegan for Three Days or More including How to Make Vegan Cupcakes with a video where the cook says she got the recipe from the book Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World
. It includes a recipe for how to make a vegan buttercream frosting….mmmmm.

I’m not a regular Oprah watcher, but I happened to be watching her show a couple of years ago when Barack Obama was on. I remember thinking how impressive he was. Today I was watching Oprah on the day after Barack Obama was elected as our next President of the United States.
It was a great show with David Gergen, Gloria Steinem, Peggy Noonan, Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Congressman John Lewis
She said to be sure and read the essay In Our Lifetime by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. at theroot.com.
I’ve never looked at theroot.com before but it’s got some interesting stories such as The First Internet President. It’s really cool to me as a geeky type to see how the Obama campaign used technology not only from the campaign organizers top-down approach but with a huge grassroot bottom-up approach as well. I was really impressed with the iPhone app that provided you with updates and would also tell you where the nearest Obama events were happening based on your iPhone’s GPS location.

For some reason my favorite Boca is missing from grocery store shelves. The Chik’n patties are vegan and taste really good - much better than Garden Burgers or the Boca Burgers in my opinion. You can microwave a Chik’n patty for a minute and make a tasty sandwich, so they are handy for quick meals. I hope Boca Chik’n returns to the Northwest soon.

Mighty O Donuts are tasty and vegan. They are located in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood at 2110 North 55th Street. They are open 6 am to 1 pm Mon, 6 am to 5 pm Tues-Fri, and 7 am to 5 pm Sat-Sun. I want to go back earlier in the morning sometime to get some fresh warm donuts right out of the fryer.

We had a nice lunch at the India Mahal in Tacoma this Saturday. The veggie samosas, veggie fritters and Channa Masala made with garbanzo beans and potatoes were all good. Reports from my co-diners indicated the chicken dishes and Kulfi - Homemade Indian ice cream, flavored with cardamon & mango, were good as well. I thought the Naan had a slight off taste of baking powder, but it wasn’t bad - cooked with fresh cilantro and garlic.
